This past week we had one customer who took time out of their busy day to share their experience with FLAT Tech on our website.
“I have a restaurant in Canton, GA with quite possibly the worst table bases in the history of table bases. Dennis Potter and his family own Catch 22 Bar and Grill in Canton, GA. Dennis welcomed the opportunity to share more about his experience, so we gave him a call and this is what he had to say!
Interviewer: Dennis, we loved receiving your kind note on our website, and we appreciate you allowing us to give you a call. Can you share a little more about your issue and your experience with FLAT Tech products?
Dennis: My family and I decided to go into the restaurant business about a year ago. So, we took a space over from an existing pizza restaurant. I bought all the equipment and furnishings from the previous owner and it was in pretty rough shape, but we didn’t have a ton of money to spend on updating or replacing all the equipment—so we tried to make do with what we had.
“The tables were a nightmare. Every single one of them was uneven and wobbly—they were in pretty bad shape.”
We had to use napkins and other items to level every one of them. It was embarrassing since our restaurant atmosphere is nice, and we’ve spent money to create a great experience for guests. Every week we’d have the floors cleaned and waxed, so we’d have to move all the tables and then we’d be back at square one having to re-level each table. We’d get a lot of comments from guests about wobbly tables. I’d go out in the dining room and see my guests trying to fix the tables themselves.
Interviewer: How did you fix this problem?
Dennis: Well, first I tried to go the inexpensive route and just bought replacement table feet, but they just didn’t work. I couldn’t get the tables to level and stabilize no matter what we did. I had seen the FLAT Tech products a while back when I was doing some research online, but with a new restaurant—just trying to make it—I didn’t want to spend the money.
Interviewer: So, what finally changed your mind?
Dennis: It happened a couple of weeks ago when I was at the restaurant. I saw an elderly couple both down on the ground under a table trying to fix a wobbly table. That was it for me. I pulled the trigger and bought some FLAT® Equalizers and installed them.
“I installed the first set on the worst table in the restaurant just to see if they were as good as you said they were. I was just blown away.”
As soon as I installed the Equalizers and turned the table over it was level, the problem was gone. Within 2 hours, I’d installed the FLAT Equalizers on every table.
Interviewer: That’s such a great story. What else have you noticed since you installed the FLAT Equalizers?
Dennis: We get a lot of large parties in the restaurant. So, we are constantly pushing tables together. The Equalizers work as advertised! We just move the two tables together, push them where we need them, and we have a seamless transition from one table to the next—perfectly aligned. All my servers love it. It’s just incredible—a great product!
Far too often people only hear when something goes wrong, and people are quick to jump online and trash a product. I experience that all the time being in the restaurant business. So, I’ve always been a firm believer that when something goes right you should spend the time to send an email or call someone let them know that,
“Hey, this is a good product—it works just as you’ve advertised—and I’m kind of kicking myself in the butt for not doing this sooner.”
It would have saved me a lot of heartache and a lot of hassle and embarrassment with our tables.
Interviewer: Where did you learn about FLAT Tech products?
Dennis: I just did a Google search for “How to fix wobbly tables” and found information about FLAT Tech. I watched the video several times and showed the video to my wife as well. I kept thinking maybe one day I’d give it a shot, but just out of frustration I finally gave in and purchased them.
Interviewer: Would you say that the cost to purchase the FLAT Equalizers was worth it to your business?
“These things were worth every cent and more. The problem was solved instantly.”
We’re friends with several restaurant owners in our area, and I’ve been talking to them about these too —because they all have the same problems with their tables as well.
